Back in February I posted about a group of women with a goal to put school shoes on a small group of children in Nicaragua.

We successfully raised enough money to buy shoes for many of those students.

Leather Shoes

However, due to the timing of when we actually got the funds and the time it was taking to size the feet and  purchase  and deliver those shoes the school year was ending soon and another need arose.

All the children now needed summer sandals to protect their feet during the rainy season.

Esperanza means hope

Enough money had been collected to buy 800+ sandals as they cost significantly less than the leather bound government required school shoe.  The distribution of these shoes began last week.

Here is a link to Chris’s blog telling about the distribution of those sandals.    He was there so his telling of the event is much better than my retelling could be.

This reminds me how rich I am monetarily.   Oh…why do I ever think I need more?

It reminds me how blessed I am as the recipient of the greatest gift of all…God’s grace.   Oh…how could I ever forget the gift is for all?

Find someone to bless with what you have been given.

“8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”[a]

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”

2 Corinthians 9:8-11 NIV

    It is really humbling to know how little effort it took on our part to make such a huge impact for these children. God multiplied the fish and bread again.

    I love this kind of thing. Those smiles say it all. Don’t you feel like you’ve just put sandals on Jesus’ feet? Well, you have…”the least of these” now have protection in the rainy season. I’m sure God is very pleased at the way his rich kids have supplied the poor.
